Band, Band, & more band.

Well these past couple weeks have been full of many events. Though I don’t have many pictures of much of anything. This was the lone picture I had of our first Comp; today was our second comp and we scored 6th place out of 10. It was inevitable that we were not going to get top score at this comp; as a leader in band I didn’t feel that the band was ready and prepared for this comp. Oh well, the past is behind us now and the only thing we have now is to go on and move forward. Optimistic insight into the world, no?

On other more craft like subjects, I knitted another beanie which, in fact, fits me perfectly. Sad to say that I still create my own little patterns just at will with no way to know how to decrease and bind off; I know how to bind off and decrease just not properly. All in all it’s a good beanie and plan on making many more beanie/hats with the same fluffy yarn. One of my next project’s I’m looking towards is fingerless mitts. I would show a link to the pattern I’m scoping out but I have still yet to figure this contraption out, and my procrastinated teenage body doesn’t want to put in enough energy to get the job done.

Hope everyone is getting enough rest this weekend, I know I need to.

Woah!

Today Band had our first competition! And I do have to tell you, I felt really good about this comp but, never this good. We had gotten second place! Amazing, yet our score could have been much higher. The first place band had a twenty something point difference from us, which in the world of band is like a leap over a mountain. Nearly impossible to top through one try alone, thus I hope this second place award does not sink in too far into the new member’s head. Let us see how this turns out. My blind pictures are still on my camerabut I will be taking some of our trophies when we resume school on Monday; so I will be posting pictures of that instead of blurry marching fields. Please do not get me wrong, second place is a magnificent start on this rocky road of band.

Ugh

Today was a hassle. I really dislike days that I don’t feel myself in; today is an example of one of those days. Knitting and/or reading is becoming a very dull option for tonight’s activity. Hope you all had a better day then my unexplainable one.

JPL Field Trip Fun

I have still yet to figure out how to work out flickr and wordpress; with pictures in my posts. This task seems to be much more of an obstacle than I thought it would have been. So far everything has been going swimmingly well with blind pictures and continuous posting. I try to bring my camera to school everyday and take as many pictures as possible. Let us see how far this can go on before it either dies out or turns into a regular habit. My preference is in the latter.
Nevertheless here is today’s fun. My friend Angela, whom you can see on my flickr page if I can ever get a proper link to that started also brought along 4 other of our friends to take with her to the JPL (Jet Propulsion Center). You see, Angela belongs to a club that had planned on going and was allowed to take other friends along for the ride. And why would I pass up an opportunity to visit a space oriented center and miss an entire days of school? Well I wouldn’t, and though I know that’s horrible attitude for a student but the truth shall be relieved. Thus concludes my basic Monday; nothing much to report other then the very long field trip to an amazing space center. I had gotten lucky with something to post about today, let us see how the rest of the week turns out.

Sunday, Starbucks and Best Friend

…is what consisted of today. Today I took my friend Angela to a “family” party. I say “family” because they aren’t really my blood family but they are as close as it gets to being a part of my family. This picture of my starbucks isn’t as great as I would have wanted it to be, but like I’ve said probably a dozen times before is that I’m taking pictures blind; thus this was the best pictures out the flock of them. I’m addictied to Starbucks and drive my parents crazy asking for any oppurtunity to grab a cup of some good coffee. And isn’t it every child’s job to drive their parents to the brink of insanity? I believe it is and I accomplish my job rather well.
Today wasn’t a complete loss, I had spent a well lite day with a very good friend and there’s nothing more I could ask for but another well lite day with more friends, which is what’s on the agenda for tomorrow. Monday we are going to a college field trip and plan to be there the whole day, hurray. Hope you all had a great weekend, I know my weekend was well spent.

Thor

Today we had Band practice. The post before this was suppose to be posted yesterday, but picture complications made that virtually impossible. Only just recently have I added a flickr page and intend on updating it everyday I take pictures; then posting something about the pictures because you have to have a reason to take the pictures right? Well today my reason, as I have posted already, is we had Band Practice today. These last pictures posted on flickr were taken blind; I don’t have any way of telling if my pictures come out or not because of the broken camera screen. Though I have to admit I really like this picture. This tuba is the instrument I play, and after my third year of playing on it I’ve grown attached and plan on taking it with me when I’m leaving for college. His name is Thor. Thor is very important to me in many ways. And call me weird, but I love naming my instruments and other valuables. Hope you all are having a great weekend, because mine isn’t turning out so bad after all.

Hmm…

Well it’s a no brainer that I haven’t really said much of anything on this blog. It’s been on my mind lately; I’ve been pondering a way to make it simple and easy to write on this blog thing. Between two AP classes and a very active band schedule, and shall we not forget the knitting that I’ve tried to keep alive, I still have a little time in which I do…nothing. Watching t.v. or sleeping is starting to effect my overall experience. Soon, I decide that I can finish whatever it is that I was going to do later for a few extra moments of sleep or another episode of NCIS. Thus, writing continuously for maybe four to five days a week will not only keep up my writing skills but give my lazy butt something to do. After reading and “Studying” other blogs, so to speak, I notice it’s a picture or two before the actual description.

But anyways! Now that that little sense of nonsense is over let’s talk school, craft and other!
Long story short; I got a laptop, my permit to drive, my own car to drive with my permit, two AP classes, Band is always going to be there, and my little brother joined band playing trombone! I will make it a point to post more pics and well post more. Of course, words…words…words but let’s see how it turns out. My plan is to not write so much in one big fat post but small little things here and there. I just came back to try and work this whole blog thing out. Bye!

Ah this summer

Ahola. It’s been a couple of weeks of not posting and I don’t have much knitting progress done. I feel like a turtle when it comes to knitting. It will take me forever to complete something but I can’t complain, I love knitting.
Well summer school started up last week and I’m taking my last year of p.e. I have one of the least active teachers and plan on switching to a more challenging class second semester. Speaking of summer school, today Angela and I ran two miles. Which is more of a big deal then it sounds like, due to our laziness.
Over these past couple of weeks I went and got a little shopping done. My mom and I discovered a really nice shopping center near our house, and it has a Jamba Juice and Starbucks! Then to top it all off it has Michael’s, Jo~Ann, Barnes & Nobles, and some other stores. I have a feeling that I will be returning there time and time again. While on our journey I bought new needles and one ball of yarn, I was on a short budget with the needles and all. I felt adventurous in the new territory and went on a limb to buy bamboo needles, since I’ve been using metal up until now. And I have to say I love them better then my other needles, because the wood doesn’t get hot or cold. I’ve had a problem in the past where my needles would be very cold or warm so I just picked up a book instead. The one problem I’ve already encountered is the grain of the wood. I accidentally impaired my needles and need to look for a way to repair them. I’m not a very light knitter and tend to forget how fragile these needles are.
This summer is turning out to be a very good one. Our apple tree is overloaded with apples and our flowers have taken in all the bloom that they can handle. I’ve grown disappointed that I cannot take pictures of such beautiful scenes because of the broken state that my camera is still in. I wish we can get my camera up and running again, I miss the days when I’d run around school taking random pictures of my unsuspecting friends.

Hope you are all having a wonderful summer as I have been.

My mojo

Alright, so my camera is still broken and thus no pictures until I get it fixed.

I’ve decided that this blog is much too boring with the gist of it about my crafty side. I take utterly too long to complete any one project and find in incredibly hard to blog about my crafty side as other bloggers do. With that said, I’ve made the choice to write about my Band and school adventures as well. Most of my life involves something within Band and school anyways. Once my camera is up and running, I’ll be able to take pictures of the Band and the big instrument I play. Go Tuba! Even though I already started mentioning some little things about my activities within the Band and the school department. Now would be a good time to go into much depth, seeing as how my crafting world is tedious and boring at times.

Thus starting off with my developed scheme for blogging, I begin by saying I am excited for Marching Band! Though I didn’t make Drum Major, as I had wished, I am a Section Leader and a Warm-up helper person. We have a Mini Band Camp Day on Saturday and I’m thrilled to get this show on the road, literally and figuratively. Not too long ago I cleaned out my Sousaphone, Thor, and fixed up all the little details so he’s ready to get up and go for whatever it is that we’ll be doing.

Now on to the crafty side of my life, I’ve purchased my very first Interweave Knits magazine. And after seeing such variation in just the needles alone I realize that I have to get some shopping done. I have a very dwarfed needle collection and am in need of quite a larger arrangement. There is one particular pattern that I am dying to get started on. Alas, I have yet to figure out how to put tags in my posts so the pattern won’t be able to be seen by you until I’ve learned these magical ways.
Then there is that one project that I’ve been working on for months now. Which, I have to add, has been a very off and on project but still is taking very, very long to finish. The project in mentioning is my Swiss Cheese Scarf. I’m now determined to finish what I started and edit the pattern to a much smaller width. I don’t think I’ll ever need a scarf as wide as said scarf, it could be a blanket if I used the right yarn and needles!
Well I’ve done enough writing for tonight. Hope you all have been having good days.

Birthday wishes

Hurray! Today is my birthday! Nothing new, and I had my party last saturday instead of today, for sleepover purposes. Now the end of the year is just about done! I’m excited to get the summer on and jump into my Junior year of High School. Lately I’ve been so busy I barely think straight anymore. So it’s safe to say that yet again, I have no crafting progress done in the weeks that I’ve been gone. And alas, I broke the screen to my camera and now am unable to picture the lovely scenery that’s been surrounding me these past few days. Have I mentioned I love the rain, which is the current weather down here. Rainy days are a good time to catch up on some home projects, so I’ve been continueing on the Swiss Cheese Scarf. This scarf will take me until the end of 2008 if I continue to knit as slow as I typically do. Makes me wonder how long it will take for me to knit an entire sweater or blanket.

Well hope you all have a good rest of today and the following week. I’m off to try and de-code some sewing patterns.
